Social Phobia

Social Phobia

This refers to extreme fear of social or performance situations. Often thought of as mere shyness, symptoms are actually much more extreme. Children with social phobia tend to fear that will be under intense scrutiny and that their behavior will result in embarrassment or negative evaluation. The fear can be of specific situations such as, speaking in public, or generalized across multiple situations. These children will often avoid situations that cause anxiety, including school, which can limit their daily activities and relationships.
